The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) conference begins today in Washington, D.C. and runs through Oct. 12.

The NEDA conference is for individuals, families and professionals who care about eating disorders. Attendees include those who are active in creating greater awareness and education around eating disorders with the purpose of limiting and minimizing their affects.

Women, men and teenagers are affected in numbers far greater than most people realize. These ‘silent disorders’ are often untreated until the physical and emotional impact on a person suffering from an eating disorder, like Anorexia or Bulimia, is extremely dire.

The 2013 conference brings together professionals, researchers, educators, people in recovery and their families to connect and learn from one another.
